Yeovilton Military Wives Choir

IMG_1261_edited_edited.jpg

The Yeovilton Military Wives Choir formed in September 2012 inspired by the successes of the Military Wives Choirs from Chivenor and Plymouth, made famous through the BBC TV programmes with Gareth Malone.  The Yeovilton Military Wives Choir now has some 50 members who meet weekly in Ilchester to have fun, to grow confidence and to learn new skills, to rehearse together and to provide mutual support.  The choir comprises serving and veteran ladies, partners and family members of serving and veteran personnel and those with other links to the actively serving community.

As one of 72 Military Wives Choirs that have now been established across the UK and abroad, the Yeovilton Military Wives Choir is part of the Military Wives Choirs Network.

The Military Wives Choirs Network - Supporting the women who support our serving personnel

The Military Wives Choirs connects women in the military community and creates a support network through the power of singing.  It is a community of over 2000 women in choirs across the UK and internationally.  We come together to celebrate a love of singing and a communal understanding that comes from our members' shared experiences of the Armed Forces.  We welcome all women whose lives are currently impacted by their military connection; our network supports each other and forms life-changing friendships that lead to new and uplifting experiences through singing.

Singing in a choir has been proven to increase wellbeing and improve mental health and physical health.  With no auditions and no pressure to perform, the Military Wives Choirs gives its members the opportunity to spend time with women that truly understand the challenges associated with military life. Please read more about the Network, its history and its valuable work in the main Military Wives Choirs website.

The Military Wives Choirs network is a registered charity in its own right, Est 2012.

Registered Charity Number 1148302.

SSAFA The Armed Forces Charity

The Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen's Families Association (SSAFA) provides practical help and assistance to anyone who is currently serving or has ever served in the Armed Forces. Support for their families is also at the heart of SSAFA's work. Each year, SSAFA directly supports more than 50,000 people in the wider Armed Forces community. Its staff and trained volunteers operate on stations and garrisons in the UK and around the World, and in regional hubs across UK to improve and support the lives of serving and veteran personnel and their families.  SSAFA continues to support our Military Wives Choirs charity.
